Introduction

Osteria La Romantica is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and the European standard EN 301 549 (European Accessibility Act, EU Directive 2019/882).

The publication of this statement is voluntary. A restaurant showcase website with an online booking form does not strictly fall within the obligations of the European Accessibility Act, but we have chosen to adopt its standards to ensure that anyone can browse our menu, read our story and book a table without barriers.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially compliant” means that the website meets most accessibility criteria, but some elements still require improvement.

Some content on this website is not fully accessible. It is listed below with the reason for the exception, according to the categories provided by the European harmonised model:

Content exempt under disproportionate burden

  • Cookie management banner — The cookie banner is provided by a third-party plugin (My Agile Privacy), which contains some interface elements (the close button) that do not fully comply with the minimum control size requirements (WCAG 2.5.8 Level AA). Modifying the plugin source code would result in losing security updates and would represent a disproportionate burden for a small restaurant. The issue has been reported to the vendor.

Content outside the scope of application

  • Embedded Google Maps — The map in the footer is a Google Maps iframe: it is a third-party service whose internal accessibility is controlled by Google and is excluded from compliance obligations. As an accessible alternative, we provide text links to driving directions and the full address in plain text.

  • “Skip to content” link to bypass navigation (keyboard accessible)
  • Semantic HTML structure with hierarchical headings
  • Visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
  • Colour contrast compliant with WCAG AA (ratio ≥4.5:1 for text)
  • Forms with associated labels, field-specific error messages and screen reader announcements
  • Support for the system “reduce motion” preference
  • Button click area compliant with WCAG 2.5.8 minimum sizes
  • Alternative text on all informative images
  • Correct language attributes on HTML and content

Report an accessibility issue

If you encounter any difficulty using or browsing our website, we want to know. We commit to replying within 30 days and to solving the problem as soon as possible.

Planned measures to improve accessibility

  • Ongoing monitoring with the cookie banner plugin vendor to resolve the control-size issues.
  • Biannual accessibility review of the website, combining automated and manual audits, to verify ongoing WCAG 2.1 AA conformance.
  • Periodic testing with real users with disabilities to identify barriers that automated tools cannot detect.

In case of an unsatisfactory reply to the report or of no reply within 30 days, users can contact the Digital Civic Defender (Difensore Civico per il Digitale), established at the Italian Digital Agency (AgID), which is the authority responsible for monitoring website accessibility in Italy:

Assessment methodology

This statement was prepared on the basis of an audit carried out on 7 April 2026 using the following methods:

  • Automated analysis with axe-core 4.10 (tags WCAG 2.0 A/AA + WCAG 2.1 A/AA + WCAG 2.2 AA + best practice)
  • Manual keyboard navigation test on all main pages
  • Static review of the source code (PHP templates, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Manual colour contrast verification
  • Tests on semantic structure and ARIA landmarks

The audit covered the main pages of the website: home, menu, events, contact and booking, both in desktop and mobile versions.
